Amazing Alabama: A Coloring Book Journey Through Alabama’s 67 Counties is a delightful, one-of-a-kind coloring book whose publication coincides with two significant bicentennial celebrations: the 2017 anniversary of Alabama becoming a territory and the 2019 anniversary of Alabama becoming a state. It is designed to engage youngsters and adult coloring book enthusiasts in learning about the unique character of our nation’s 22nd state.

Every county in Alabama is featured in Amazing Alabama with an appealing line drawing of its iconic and lesser-known sites—historical, geographical, topographical, industrial and commercial, and more. Companion text identifies and provides context for the pictured elements. The book provides a comprehensive educational snapshot of all that is special about the state.

Author/illustrator Laura Murray was inspired to create Amazing Alabama, her first coloring book, after moving to Alabama with her husband from Georgia. Together, they made many road trips, which introduced her to the state’s history, its scenic highways and byways, its commercial centers and rustic small towns. Her coloring book showcases some of her favorite discoveries—the historic U.S. Post Office in Etowah County, Hatchet Creek in Coosa County, the pitcher plant bog in Chilton County, and much more.

Laura Murray has created a visual treasure trove of cultural history, historic sites, and regional symbols, which will inspire travelers, both young and young at heart, to break out their coloring pencils and hit the road for an Amazing Alabama adventure!

The Amazing Alabama coloring book takes fans of all ages on a wonderful journey through all 67 counties of the state. The whimsical drawings provide a snapshot of the diverse offerings found in Alabama while introducing some of the state’s most beloved hidden gems. LAURA MURRAY has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design. After more than 15 years working in the corporate design world she has turned her attention to something she loves and has been doing for as long as she can remember — drawing. Her new book, Amazing Alabama, gives expression to her art and to her love of coloring books. Murray found inspiration for her book in the region that she calls home — on weekend trips around the state, poking around its many small towns, touring the local museums, and more. She has logged many miles in the making of her first coloring book, her sketchbook always with her. When not busy with her illustration work, Laura enjoys spending time with her husband, three children, and two pets at her home in Auburn, Alabama.
