Sindya Bhanoo

Sindya Bhanoo is the author of the collection Seeking Fortune Elsewhere. The book is the winner of the New American Voices Award, was nominated for both a Carnegie Medal of Excellence and the Pen/Bingham Prize, and is a finalist for the Oregon Book Award. In 2021, Sindya won an O. Henry Prize. A longtime newspaper reporter, she has worked for the New York Times and the Washington Post. She is a professor at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon.
