TOMMY HART JONES, an eighth-generation Georgian, has spent his decades-long career in support of historic preservation. He is retired from the National Park Service, where he was an architectural historian and cultural resource specialist in the Southeast Regional Office with a wide range of professional duties supporting the agency’s efforts to preserve, protect, and interpret historic sites, buildings, and landscapes. He worked for the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation for many years and has had a variety of other clients, including the Atlanta History Center, local governments, and historical societies. He has authored dozens of studies on a wide variety of historic structures. He lives in Midtown Atlanta.
